Thirty-one years ago, King Tubby, the inventor of dub and the Dub Master, was murdered in his Kingston home. Since then, no book had explored the fascinating life of one of reggae's most enigmatic and important figures.

We traveled to Jamaica, following in the footsteps of King Tubby, this brilliant mind who revolutionized music without ever leaving Jamaica. A pioneer of electronic music, he redefined music from his small bungalow deep in the Waterhouse ghetto, but he also led the "best sound system of all time", King Tubby's Hi-Fi, and practically invented dub plates.

Even though he practically stopped mixing as early as 1975, King Tubby knew how to delegate, and his many talented assistants, along with the legendary MCI console (with its "big knob"), left the studio's sonic imprint on the entire golden decade of reggae.

Revisiting his life was no easy task! Few people seemed willing to talk about King Tubby. Was this related to his brutal murder in 1989? We take you on a journey through the Waterhouse neighborhood of Jamaica, following in the footsteps of a legend intimately linked to the epic story of sound systems.
